Stan Lee joins Marvel’s (unofficial) Avengers

Avengers Assemble! is an unauthorized web series targeted directly at anyone who understands the difference between regular Spider-man and Ultimate Spider-man, with very funny writing and performances. While my favorite episode is probably the first one, in which the Avengers discuss their new health care options, you gotta admire the show for pulling off a casting coup beyond X-Men: First Class — a full-on guest appearance by the man who beyond all others represents Marvel Comics, writer/creator Stan Lee. Does this make the series canon? Probably not. But it’s still an impressive feat for an independent web series, hopefully one that helps get it more attention. At least among comics nerds.
