Bond in the style of Bond
It’s interesting to me how the look and feel of films change over time. Film technique tends to evolve in tandem with audience expectations and it’s fascinating to watch that evolution. Case in point, take the above video: a 1969 Bond film – On Her Majesty’s Secret Service – recut into a trailer that mimics the current Bond style we’re more used to.
Old Bond recut into New Bond.
The first time I watched this I thought “Oh cool!” and the next five I started to see the tropes of Bond films being brought to the surface in a way that simple watching the films back to back might not deliver. No surprise then that it comes from the people who voluntarily put themselves through what they called The Ultimate Bondathon: every Bond film, in order, over 25 days.
