DIY SciFi

Today you get a double feature. Both of these surreal, futuristic shorts were made on the cheap (hundreds or thousands vs millions of dollars) to test what a few people with a high-quality consumer camera, a Macbook, and some special effect software can do. And as you will see, the answer to that question is quite a lot.

The Sphere

In the not too distant future, Earth is occupied by a hostile alien race that’s aggressively searching for a missing alien artifact — a sphere that contains an infinite source of powerful energy.

Memorize

In 2027, everyone is implanted with a chip – the Memorize-chip. It records everything you see, a new system to fight crime. One unit controls the system. The SSU – Special Surveillance Unit. Written & Directed by Eric Ramberg and Jimmy Eriksson

Note: I highly recommend watching both in full screen.

Don’t know if this blog is still active, but I wanted to contribute my short to the mix. Not quite as slick as the one above, but definitely no budget sci fi. Thanks!
